Nesting, nourishing, and creating your perfect nursery.
Back in the day, nursery’s needed to have a theme. From farm animals, to ballerinas, to puppy dogs, and more… choosing a theme was first on a momma’s agenda.
We are living in a more modern time where simplicity and uncluttering is prevalent, therefore I scrapped the idea of a theme (for its complexity) and went with a very eclectic, yet elegant setting.
I knew I didn’t want to paint the walls a baby color like light blue, pastel yellow, minty green, or soft pink… because that felt too limiting. So, I kept it painted as is… a neutral tan: Sherwin-Williams Nomadic Desert (6107).
From there, I knew I wanted a bright and airy feeling with fresh plants and accents of white and gold.
I thought about waiting until birth to reveal gender, but then the decor ideas took over my mind! If having a boy, I wanted jade green accents to bring in a richness of warmth and comfort. If having a girl, I wanted soft pink accents to spark femininity and passion. So there it was: a room with tan walls, white furniture, gold accents, and a teeny splash of color, jade green or soft pink, to speak character into the nursery. I found out I was having a girl, and instantly went to work on her new space!
Without further ado, here is the nursery (angle by angle). Many of the pictures will have clickable links to take you to the sites where you can purchase the items!
The changing pad that I used is called a Peanut Changer, by Keekaroo. Click the image above to check it out. I love it because I can wipe it clean after every use. It is non-toxic and does not require a cloth. The foam is soft and durable, and it comes with a protective strapping mechanism that can be used for added safety.
Click on image above to purchase the Hemnes, 8 drawer dresser from IKEA.
This IKEA dresser ended up being the PERFECT height for a changing table. I am 5’7” and did not want to hunch over to change my little one. Finding a dresser that was tall enough, but not too tall was a top priority for me.
I purchased 4 pink crystal knobs from Anthropology that I added to the top 4 drawers. For the remaining knobs, I spray painted them a brushed gold. The original color was a darkened brushed silver.
I wanted a small and modern glider for the nursery and found the perfect solution on Amazon. The Babyletto Swivel Glider is durable (even after three years of constant use). It wipes clean, and it is comfortable. The ONLY downside is that it was rather heavy for two grown men to carry up the stairs.
